Lynn Friedman, Ph.D. is a clinical psychologist, psychoanalyst in full-time private practice, who provides psychotherapy and psychoanalysis in Chevy Chase, Maryland (Friendship Heights). Her clinical interests include treating: mental health professionals, individuals with relationship difficulties and people with difficulties achieving work-life goals.

Beyond her commitment to psychotherapy and psychoanalysis, she is devoted to mentoring others in the field and to advocating for the profession. Toward these goals, she provides clinical supervision, consultation and coaching to clinicians who are developing psychotherapy practices. She enjoys working with both new and experienced clinicians, particularly those just entering private practice and those who are Building a private practice in a new locale.

Although she devotes most of her time to practice, she teaches in the Clinical-Community Counseling and Organizational Development/Human Resource Management Programs in the Johns Hopkins, Business School. Also, she is on the faculty of the Washington Psychoanalytic Institute where she teaches clinicians training to become psychoanalysts. She is committed to bringing psychoanalytic ideas to the popular media; she writes a monthly column in the Washington Business Journal Corporations on the Couch. and has written numerous columns for the Washington Post interactive site.

Prior to moving to the area, she practiced in Pittsburgh. For many years (1986-1999), she taught undergraduates and graduate students at Carnegie Mellon University, in both psychology and in management and public policy. Also, she worked with physicians in area residency programs, teaching interviewing skills and helping residents and faculty to understand their patient's psychological concerns. In her practice, she specialized in providing treatment and consultation to mental health professionals, physicians and professors.
